Hi, I’m Alicia Melgoza

Adult, Teen, Family, & Couples Therapist

My Story

I founded the East Bay Therapy Center to help teens, families, and couples get the help that I wish my family and parents had gotten when I was younger. My family and I dealt with our own struggles when I was a teen and it’s those experiences that initially drew me to study psychology in college and to ultimately become a therapist. And, those experiences are why I am so passionate about the work I do. Being able to help parents and teens, families, and couples repair relational wounds, rebuild trust, and develop a stronger and more secure connection is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.

Values that guide my work with clients:

E
I place a strong value on research and utilize therapy interventions with my clients that are evidence-based and proven to be effective (see list below).
E
I am passionate about social justice and mindful of issues related to racism, sizeism, ableism, ageism, and sexism (among many others). I strive to practice from a place of cultural humility and provide culturally affirming services to my clients.
E
When it comes to teenagers, I believe families are essential to successful treatment and powerful agents of change in the recovery process. Therefore, when working with teens, I also work with parents and the family as a whole. I see parents as my partners in helping their teen overcome obstacles and lead successful lives.
